Watch saved TikToks on your TV

SnaqTik · 2026-10-07

Saved a playlist of TikToks for a family get-together? Four ways to get them on the big screen: Chromecast, AirPlay, a USB stick or an HDMI cable. All work offline once the files are saved.

1. Chromecast or Google TV (Android)

Open the video in Google Photos and tap the Cast icon. Many Android phones also have Smart View (Samsung) or Cast in Quick Settings to mirror the whole screen.

2. AirPlay (iPhone, iPad, Mac)

Open the clip in Photos, tap Share → AirPlay and pick your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible smart TV. Or use Screen Mirroring from Control Center.

3. USB stick

Copy the MP4 files to a USB drive and plug it into the TV. Most smart TVs play H.264 MP4 straight from USB. If a file refuses to play, it may be HEVC — use the standard MP4 option rather than HD (see H.264 vs HEVC).

4. HDMI cable from a laptop

The most reliable option: connect, set the TV input, play the files in VLC or the system player in full screen.

About the black bars

TikToks are vertical (9:16) and TVs are horizontal (16:9), so you will see bars on both sides. That is normal; zooming in crops the video. For a playlist, a laptop with VLC lets you queue files back-to-back.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need internet to play on TV?

Not for USB or HDMI. Casting needs both devices on the same Wi-Fi, but the video itself plays from your phone.

Why won't my TV read the USB stick?

Many TVs only read FAT32 or exFAT drives. Reformat the stick (this erases it) or try another one.

Is it OK to show TikToks at an event?

For a private family gathering, yes. Public screenings or business use need the creator's permission.
